Lucky You!

I hear it all the time: "You are so lucky."

Yes, I am. Very. Often, I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.

And then I get back to work.

The funny thing about luck is, the harder you work, the luckier you get. But I believe it's more than that.

I believe that the better you plan, the more certain you are, the clearer the path becomes, making it more likely you WILL make it to that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

My first life coaching business card (2004)

I think back to the day in 2004, when I ran into the man I later married on a New York City subway platform. (That's right, Marc and I ran into each other on the subway!) We had met years before, back when we were working together for the same company, but we'd lost touch and hadn't seen each other in years.

Now, fate may have crossed our paths anyway, as I believe we were meant to be. But I also believe what I was DO-ing had a big role to play. I was on a mission, to help others through my life coaching practice, and it was exciting. He was curious, and that opened the possibility of more.

When we are walking our paths, we're at our most attractive, most intriguing, and – I'd like to suggest – most lucky.

Call it the zone, call it whatever you like, but by all means call it something, and call it out. And if you don't know what IT is, that's an AWESOME reason to hire a coach ... right now!

Speaking of luck, I feel particularly fortunate to have had a sit-down with my neighborhood friend and colleague, the founder of the excellent Mother Untitled, and to learn more about her movement to support “ambitious women creating space for motherhood.” Read more...

So in this month of March, make time to mosey up to that mirror and take a good, long look.

All the luck you need is staring right at you.

Lucky You.

When we met again on that fateful day, I had just come from picking up all my marketing materials for the new Life Coaching business I was launching. I was so excited: bubbling over with enthusiasm, shoving business cards in his face, and rambling on. I'm certain that my energy was pretty intriguing at that moment, and he asked me out for coffee on the spot. We spent the next several hours together.

One year later, we were engaged.
